That's lunch this week. Phoebe found the burger menu--took long enough! Luckily, I am on Spring Break this week and have the extra time in the morning to make it happen. So yesterday I made sweet potato fries and apple crisp. There is enough crisp that we all got to sample it yesterday, and it is pretty good--and gluten-free! This morning I nuked a veggie burger and grilled a bun--hopefully that will keep the bread from getting soggy. A little container of mandarin oranges finished it off.
Phoebe had a couple of false starts with books, but finally settled on New Beginnings, a book from the Vet Volunteers series--you can imagine the appeal of that! And the adorable rabbit on the cover doesn't hurt! The series is about a group of kids who, as the title indicate, volunteer at a vet's office.
After she finished that, she started Finding Danny, which she got from her school's book fair last year. It is about a girl who loses her dog, so Phoebe keeps mentioning the book is sad. As a result, Bree learns about animal shelters and the pet crisis--scaled back for kids, I imagine. She is almost done, so we will see if everything turns out all right.
We only have two chapters left in Secrets of the Crown!
