Phoebe is loving art camp this week--the theme is Art Around the World, and they have been to Russia, Africa, and Japan so far. I look forward to seeing all her projects when they come home on Friday!
Earlier this week, she brought home some origami flowers for me--
Phoebe finished Time Cat, and has also finished two other books: Stallion in the Storm and Canterwood Crest: Take the Reins. In Time Cat, Gareth the cat took his human friend Jason to all different cultures and places--ancient Egypt, Celtic Ireland, Peru--it sounded pretty cool.
Stallion in the Storm is from the Animal Ark series that Phoebe likes, but it is the first in a subset of books about animal ghosts. The ghost in this case is of a race horse, who has been haunting the stable where he died. This was a special gift from the Tooth Fairy, who had been waiting so long for Phoebe to lose this current tooth, which has been lose for six months or so, that she came during the day. (This also made the logistics of getting something under Phoebe's pillow much easier!)
Take the Reins, which Phoebe finished this morning, is the first book in a series about a riding academy/boarding school with lots of horses and lots of tween angst. Sort of sounds like Gossip Girl with horses. Phoebe seemed to like it though. Last night she came in for help with a word, but it wasn't a word, per se. She said the characters were "IM-ing" and didn't understand the acronym. So a combined sad and happy moment for mom!
We are steadily getting through Secrets of the Crown--may be done next week if we keep up our current pace. No news on the third book, but it seems like the first one had been optioned for a movie. Guess that should be no surprise!
On the lunch front, Phoebe chose hummus sandwiches for the week, and we hadn't made the hummus recipe from Vegan Lunchbox, so that was easy! The hummus came out quite well--I did take some liberties with the recipe in the book--and Phoebe said it tasted better than what we get at the store.
On a personal note, I finished my first children's book. It is called Twinkle, the Star Kitty, and it is looking for an agent and/or a publisher. So if you know one, let me know!
