Dance 2018-2019

Phoebe has upped her dance game this year, joining the ballet program at her studio. She assists with a class of preschoolers, and she attends classes in Modern, Ballet, and Pointe. While Phoebe passed the test to dance en pointe at the end of last year, she wasn't ready yet to dance in toe shoes for any of the shows.

Last Fall, the studio participated in the Port Warwick Arts Festival, which was outdoors. In December, they put on a performance of The Nutcracker, and this past weekend they wrapped an original production of The Little Mermaid, based on the Hans Christian Andersen story.

This was a volunteer event, so not everyone at the studio danced. You can see a video of the "Gold" dance here.

Phoebe had three roles for The Nutcracker. Her biggest one was as the Chinese Tea soloist. That's her jumping!

After her dance, she had to stand with the other regional dancers in the back. So there she is on the right with Katie (Arabian) and one of the Russian dancers.

They are really strict about photos, so most of what we have is from before or after the shows. Other parents take pictures at dress rehearsals, so that's how we get the other ones. We are still waiting for the studios pictures and for video.

For The Little Mermaid, she was in about every other scene. Mostly, she was some kind of water, so she was in a blue dress a lot! Her friends Sydney and Katie were co-cast as the Little Mermaid, so they performed the lead role in alternating shows.

Our friends Kimberley and Trish had their daughters start pre-ballet after they saw Phoebe dance last year. They also got to be in the show as bubbles! Here is Leanna (Kimberly's daughter) with Phoebe.
