Sorry, I couldn't resist. Figured it would get your attention! That is one of Phoebe's favorite lines from The Last Olympian, the final Percy Jackson book, which we finished last night. That line was spoken by one of the Party Ponies--wild centaurs who come to Percy's aide during the big battle. They come from all over the country--there is even a South Dakota Pony mentioned--and are a bit crazy. Think frat boys with hooves. They wear a lot of tie-dye, paint crazy messages on their horse halves, and love root beer. Of course, I had to do all sorts of voices for the Ponies, which added to the fun, I think. I have read the Party Pony section at least three times, so far--I think I have it memorized now.
She also loved any appearance of Blackjack the pegasus, of course, and was even willing to read an extra chapter one night because he was mentioned in the title. Turns out Blackjack didn't feature in that chapter, however; he was just pegasus-jacked at the end of it.
It looks like we are back to Hogwarts next with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. At least that is what she said this morning. May have another idea by tonight.
Phoebe has been crazy busy with OVA, so she's not done too much reading on her own. Most evenings she is practically falling asleep in her supper! But the competition is tomorrow, so we should be able to get back to normal after that!
This past weekend we went to the Albany Children's Book Festival. We met a bunch of local authors and got to visit again with Julia DeVillers and Jennifer Roy, who Phoebe has become big fans of! Phoebe is amassing quite a collection of signed books!
After the book festival, Phoebe went to another sustainability workshop at RPI--this one involving photography.
