I was beginning to doubt that it would happen, but we finally finished The Battle of the Labyrinth Monday night. Phoebe said her favorite part was when they found Daedalus in the Labyrinth, but I know she also enjoyed the various appearances of Blackjack the Pegasus. When I told her he was in the first chapter of the final book (I peeked ahead), she was very happy. We are looking forward to reading the final book!
Now we are reading The Familiars, which centers on a cat named Aldwyn who, at the moment, is running around town with a cat trap on his tail. That's what you get when you try to steal a fish, I suppose! The back cover touts it as a cross between Harry Potter and Warriors, so Phoebe should enjoy it.
Phoebe finished Kittens in the Kitchen, but we haven't talked about it yet. Now she is reading Who Was George Washington?, which is non-fiction. Her class is studying the American colonies right now, so it tied in nicely.
For her lunch this week, Phoebe discovered a Halloween menu in Vegan Lunchbox. Unfortunately, we were a week late, but we can keep Halloween around for another week--I don't mind!
So, we have homemade Chocolate Graham Cracker sandwiches, which are filled with a blend of apple and peanut butters. Phoebe picked out the ghost and owl-shaped cutters--check out the ghost sandwiches below--
These are accompanied by carrot stick "Goblin Fingers" and apple juice. Phoebe gave them the thumbs up, and Mercedes did as well!
