It's Not That Easy to Train a Dragon

Happy Monday everyone--

We finished How to Train Your Dragon last night, and it was a fun story--if absolutely NOTHING like the movie (which is good too). It was quite funny, and Phoebe and I laughed through quite a few parts.

Phoebe's favorite part involved dragon housebreaking, unfortunately. Hiccup (the hero) is trying to get Toothless (his dragon) to obey and remember that there is "No pooing in the kitchen." Anyway, Hiccup brought Toothless outside, at which point Toothless relieved himself all over Hiccup's shoes, crowing "Poo Outside!" quite happily. Phoebe found that hysterical. There was quite a bit of snot/slime/poo humor in this book.

She also enjoyed the Singing Supper.The Green Death, a Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus, had eaten a slightly smaller SGM, but he was not fully dead yet, apparently, because he was singing from within the Green Death's stomach. Phoebe took macabre pleasure in reading the songs in a sinister little voice.

Anyway, not sure what's next. Maybe the next from Warriors, Percy Jackson, or Harry Potter. Since we're hoping to go see Rick Riordan in a couple of weeks, Percy would be a good pick.

Phoebe's still working on The Secret of Shadow Ranch. She'll finish it someday! The bookstores will be starting their summer reading contests soon, so that will give her some motivation!
