Reviving the Blog!

Hey everyone!

It has been a long time since I posted here. Since Phoebe has graduated and is off to college, there seemed to be less of a use for this platform, but I have received requests from some quarters asking about new posts, so here we are!

Instead of a strictly Phoebe/school-based newsletter, I thought I could use it to send updates about all of us, particularly for those who don't see our posts on social media. What gets posted is likely to vary based on what's going on in our tiny corner of the world. If there is anything in particular you would like to hear about, feel free to post in the comments!

Tuesday was Signing Day at CNU, when sophomores officially declare their majors. With all the credits Phoebe brought in from dual-enrollment, she has sophomore status, so she was able to register as an official Anthropology major!

She is also getting ready for the CNU Dance Show next month. She is choreographing one piece, and she is dancing in another. No pictures from that yet, but there will be!

What we are reading:

  • Phoebe: The Only Woman in the Room, by Marie Benedict--about actress Hedy Lamarr, her escape from Europe, and her gift for science and engineering.
  • Kelly: I recently finished The Priory of the Orange Tree, by Samantha Shannon, and I'm now reading (almost done) Silver Blonde, by Elizabeth Ross, a murder mystery set in Post-WW2 Hollywood.
  • David: Melog, by Mihangel Morgan and Christopher Meredith.
Phoebe and I both try to complete the PopSugar Reading Challenge each year, which asks people to read books in a variety of different categories each year. You can find more about it here.

Recent movies:

  • Encanto
  • Jungle Cruise
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel
  • The Mosquito Coast

Next week is Spring Break, so Phoebe and I (David, too, if he can take the time off) are planning to go to the movies at least one day, either to see Death on the Nile or Uncharted.

What we are watching:

  • Suspicion
  • The Book of Boba Fett
  • Hawkeye (just finished)
  • This is Us
We do still find time to craft, and Phoebe is, as always, busy with her folded book business. David has been doing some painting, and I have been working on a big cross-stitch project. This is what it should look like when it is done

That's all for now--I will try to be more regular with updates going forward!
