In May, I posted about the movies we had watched so far this year, so I thought I would post again about the second half of the year. Here are the other films Phoebe has seen--
Captain America: Civil War
Real Genius
Die Hard
Max (about a retired military dog)
Bring It On
Desperately Seeking Susan
Legally Blonde
Star Trek: Beyond (Phoebe fell asleep when we went to see this at the Drive-In, so it doesn't really count)
Jaws
The Sound of Music (1965)
King Kong (1933)
Batman v Superman (for the 15 minutes or so featuring Wonder Woman)
Running Scared (1986, Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal)
While You Were Sleeping
Kubo and the Two Strings
Run, Lola, Run
The Italian Job (2003)
Speed (1994)
Turner and Hooch
The Truman Show
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (HP encore theater release)
Flyboys
Frankenstein (staged version starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller)
Doctor Strange
Now You See Me 2
War Horse
Local Hero
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Star Wars Episodes I-VII (Thanksgiving Star Wars Marathon)
I, Robot
Suffragette
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Rogue One
The Time Machine (1960)
Phoebe read Frankenstein, War Horse and The Time Machine for school, so the movies were after that, and she read I, Robot for her book club.
She covered World War One and the Suffragette movement in History class, so watching Flyboys and Suffragette were for that--in addition to War Horse. She is starting WWII next week, so I expect we'll be watching a lot of movies for that--there are so many good ones!
We did a Sherlock marathon over Christmas this year instead of Harry Potter, so we have finished all three series with the exception of The Abominable Bride, which we will get in before Series 4 premiers on Sunday. Phoebe has already watched it with me when it was on TV last New Year's, but David hasn't yet, and it will be a nice review before the new episodes start.
We have also been working our way through Season 5 of Castle, but we stopped before the episode based on Rear Window, which we are planning to watch in the next couple of days as well. It will be Phoebe's first Hitchcock film! She's not ready for the scary ones yet, like Psycho, but the suspenseful ones will be fun to watch. Plus, she can see another Jimmy Stewart film after watching It's a Wonderful Life earlier this month. Life is nowhere near my favorite holiday film, but we try to do one classic Christmas movie a year. Last year we watched A Christmas Carol (the Patrick Stewart one, I think), and she read the story this year for book club.
Happy New Year!
