Mush!

We had our dry-mushing adventure this weekend, and it was loads of fun. Of course, that you call out "mush" to get the dogs moving is a myth--the real command is "hike!" And we hiked away on Saturday! The weather was perfect and the dogs were great. There was one other family there with us, so it was a small group, which was nice. We all helped with the jobs--getting the dogs on the line, putting on their gear, harnessing them to the sled, feeding them--we did it all! As we brought the dogs to the rig, I'm not sure who was leading whom--but I do know I had sore arms the next day! My dog, Razzy, also refused to let me put on his booties. Took two of us to get that done.

Phoebe was too little to drive the rig herself, so she went around with the owner and the full team of six to get their edge off. Then we each took turns with our assigned dogs going around the loop. Razzy was quite fast and my turn was over too soon!

Truck o' Puppies! This is how they arrived--lots of barking and tail wagging. There are actually two litters here--the little golden dog in the center, above the handle, is the mom of all of them. Her name is Betty.

Betty--she didn't do any pulling. She has enough to handle with all those kids!
